Square Enix, publisher of the Final Fantasy series, has announced a $500,000 donation to the United Nations Fund for Refugees in Ukraine.In addition, the company has started an employee fundraising program that matches donations to benefit several other major charities: the Red Cross, UNICEF and Doctors Without Borders.In a statement posted on Twitter today, Square Enix said, “It is our sincere hope that peace can be restored and that those affected by the crisis can resume their peaceful lives as soon as possible.”Numerous game companies have announced aid donations for the growing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine as a result of the war between Russia and Ukraine.As things stand, many companies in the game industry are reacting individually to the current crisis in Ukraine.Pokemon, Bandai Namco, CD Projekt Red, game engine maker Unity, and THQ/Gearbox’s owner, Embracer, have all made significant humanitarian contributions to Ukrainian refugees before.
